Bread Rolls

This is my mum's recipe and reminds me of school picnic days from when I was little. She made these on picnic day every year and I still remember how much I enjoyed devouring them. It is a must try appetizer recipe.

What you'll need..
  • 6 Slices of bread
  • 2 Medium potatoes, boiled
  • 1 Tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 Tsp amchoor (Dried mango powder)
  • 1-2 Green chillies chopped
  • 2 Tbsp cilantro leaves chopped
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
How to..
  • Peel and mash the boiled potatoes in a large bowl.
  • Add chilli, garam masala, amchoor, salt, green chillies and cilantro and mix well.
  • Divide the mashed potatoes into 6 equal parts and roll them into balls.
  • Heat oil in a non stick pan for frying.
  • Wet your hands with water and squeeze a slice of bread between your palms. When the bread is flattened, place a potato ball in the center and wrap the bread around it tightly. If there is any excess bread in the end, tear it and discard.
  • Repeat this for all remaining slices.
  • Carefully drop the bread rolls into hot oil. Fry till golden brown and crispy and remove from heat on to a paper towel.
  • Serve hot with cilantro chutney and ketchup.
