Aloo Tikki

This is an easy Indian appetizer recipe that's great on its own or with popular Indian street food, Ragda Patties.

What you'll need..
  • 3 Medium potatoes boiled
  • 1/4 Cup bread crumbs. I make mine at home by grinding left over slices of bread in the blender.
  • 1 Tsp roasted cumin, roughly crushed (or cumin powder)
  • 1 Tsp coriander powder
  • 1 Tsp garam masala
  • 1 Tsp chilli powder
  • 1 Tsp amchoor powder (Dried mango powder)
  • 2 Green chillies chopped
  • 2 Tbsp cilantro leaves chopped
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
How to..
  • In a large mixing bowl, peel and mash the boiled potatoes.
  • Add bread crumbs, roasted cumin, coriander powder, garam masala, chilli powder, amchoor, green chillies, cilantro and salt and mix well.
  • Rub a little oil between the palm of your hands and form golf ball size balls with the potatoes and then flatten them to 1 cm thickness.
  • Heat oil in a non stick flat pan.
  • Add the flattened potato cutlets and fry on medium heat till they turn crispy and golden brown. Then flip and turn to the other side. Serve hot with cilantro chutney.
