Tamarind Chutney

This is an easy recipe for a sweet and sour dipping sauce.

What you'll need..
  • 1 Tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 5-6 seedless dates
  • 1 Tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 Tsp chaat masala (Optional)
  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped onion
  • Salt to taste
How to..
  • Soak the tamarind pulp and dates in 1/2 cup of slightly warm water for about 20 minutes.
  • Then squeeze them with your fingers and get all the juices. Discard any excess fiber/pulp.
  • Dry roast the cumin seeds in a small pan for 2-3 minutes. Remove them from heat when they get slightly dark and fragrant and grind them roughly.
  • Add this to the tamarind and date juice along with chilli powder, chaat masala, salt and chopped onion. Mix well.
